With great sorrow it is our duty to inform you that our co-worker, our friend, our model citizen Diana Castillo, 45, passed away Monday night after a protracted battle against leukemia. It was my fortune to have worked alongside Diana—albeit for two weeks, but it took less than a day to recognize her tremendous heart and dedication to our community. Here at El Centro, labor persists, but we keep her in the back of our minds, knowing that nothing short of a terrible illness stopped her from struggling up the front steps, ambling to her desk to at once begin phoning families and providing them with her inimitable services.

Help us remember Diana by attending Mass on Friday, 7:30pm at Cristo Rey Church, located at 4221 J St., and if the need is felt, donating a small remittance to the surviving family.

Festival 2009

Again, thanks to everyone for helping. Here’s to next year.

As you know, Sunday marked our annual cultural festival, this year held at the State Fair. We had a great time and wish to thank everyone for their support and involvement. I will be uploading photos of the event—check back soon to relive the fun. For now I will leave you with the words of the World Herald.
